PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a vibrant and grand Fresher’s Party to welcome the first-year students of B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.Voc., BCA, BBA, M.Com, and MBEIT. The Chief Guest of the day, Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Prashar, was given a floral welcome by the event’s in-charges, Dr. Neena Mittal, Mrs. Rajni Kapoor, and Dr. Divya Budhia Gupta, along with the co-in-charges, Mrs. Gurjit Kaur and Dr. Simarjit Kaur. Following this, Pooja, a student of MBEIT Semester III, delivered an inspiring welcome speech that set the tone for the celebration.
A series of captivating performances, including energetic dance routines and a thrilling modeling contest, kept the audience entertained throughout the function. Engaging games further enhanced the lively atmosphere. The event provided a platform for the freshers to showcase their talents and foster a sense of camaraderie among their peers.
The stage was skillfully handled by Mrs. Sheikha Puri and Mrs. Rachana, whose seamless coordination kept the event running smoothly.
In the much-anticipated modeling contest, several students were awarded titles for their outstanding participation. Jasleen from B.A. 1st Year won Best Walk, while Khushi from B.Voc. Cosmetology 1st Year and Astha from B.Sc. Non-Medical 1st Year shared the title of Best Hairstyle. Romal and Jasleen from B.A. 1st Year were recognized as the Most Talented. Gurleen Kaur from B.A. B.Ed. 1st Year was honored with Miss Personality, Astha from B.Sc. Non-Medical 1st Year was named Miss Beautiful, and Jhanvi from B.Com. 1st Year took home the prestigious title of Miss Fresher.

The PG Department of Commerce and Management organized a Slogan Writing Competition on the topic “Tourism and Peace” to celebrate “World Tourism Day 2024” for the students of B. Com, B. Com FS and M.Com.
The theme “Tourism and Peace” emphasizes how travel, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism practices can contribute to conflict resolution, reconciliation, and the promotion of global peace. The students wrote creative slogans which were later displayed on the notice board.
Lavanya and Harman Walia of B. Com FS Sem III bagged first prize. Silvi and Komal of B. Com FS Sem V and Mansi of B.Com Semester III got second prize.
Sunakshi, Hershey and Kamakshi of B. Com FS Sem III got third prize. Navneet Kaur of B. Com Sem I received a consolation prize.
The theme emphasizes the vital connection between tourism and peace-building. The objective behind it was to raise awareness among the students to understand the role of tourism in international cooperation, sustainable development, and fostering cultural exchange. By this activity students gained deep insights about India’s transformation with world-class infrastructure, doubling of airports, and enhanced connectivity, which will significantly impact tourism.

The Department of Punjabi, in association with the NSS unit of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a Poetry Recitation Competition. A total of 25 students from various classes participated in the event, which aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their creative talents while promoting awareness about environmental cleanliness.
Gauri (B.A. Semester I) secured the first position, Sudha (B.A. B.Ed. Semester I) won the second position, and Natasha (B.A. Semester I) achieved the third position. Harman Kaur (B.A. Semester I) received a consolation prize for her performance.
