Institution Innovation Council (IIC)

The Innovation Council (IIC) of Prem Chand Markanda SD College for Women in Jalandhar was founded in 2022 by the criteria of the “MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)”. The effort aimed to construct a functional environment for startups, foster a thriving local innovation economy, search for ideas, and pre-incubate ideas. Prem Chand Markanda SD College for Women’s IIC is actively planning and leading field trips, lectures, workshops, project displays, boot camps for entrepreneurs, idea competitions, etc. for its students.

VISION

The vision of an Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) in PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar typically aligns with fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship within the institution. The vision of IIC of PCM S.D. College for Women includes:

1. Promoting Innovation: To create an environment that encourages students and faculty to generate innovative ideas and solutions across various fields.
2. Fostering Entrepreneurship: To provide the necessary resources, mentorship, and support for students to develop entrepreneurial skills and start their ventures.

The objectives of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, would be designed to foster an ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving.

1. To create employers, to generate employment, and not to create employees.
2. Inspires students and faculty to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.
3. Provides students with the skills needed to develop business plans, conduct market analysis, and start entrepreneurial ventures.
4. Encourages projects and start-ups that aim at solving environmental and societal challenges through innovative approaches.
5. Helps students and faculty build prototypes of their ideas through funding, lab access, and mentorship.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the work of the Incubation Cell by fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. Ultimately IIC and Incubation cell work together for generating employers.

THE MEMBERS OF IIC:

President

1. The President provides vision and strategic direction to promote innovation, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
2. The President oversees the council’s activities, such as workshops, seminars, hackathons, and competitions. They ensure the proper execution of innovation-related programs and events.
3. The President ensures that the council’s activities are continuously monitored, evaluated, and improved to maintain a high standard of innovation and entrepreneurship development.
4. The President helps in formulating and advocating for policies within the institution that support innovation, intellectual property rights, and startup ecosystems.

Vice President

1. The Vice President assists in implementing the strategic goals set by the council, helping to shape the institution’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
2. Overseesthe day-to-day activities of the council, ensuring that projects, events, and initiatives are on track. This may involve working closely with faculty, staff, and student teams.
3. Assists in tracking the progress of various IIC programs, compiling reports, and providing feedback for continuous improvement.

Convener

1. Ensures attendance at the meeting and prepares the agenda a few days in advance, considering important feedback from the President and all council members.
2. Innovates ideas from every member and maintains and records the proceedings with meeting minutes and pictures.
3. Coordinates various events, workshops, and initiatives related to innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution.
4. Organization and planning of key activities such as seminars, hackathons, ideation camps, and innovation challenges. This involves working with different departments, student teams, and external partners to ensure successful event execution.

Social Media Coordinator

1. Create and manage the IIC page/account on Facebook, Twitter YouTube and other relevant social media platforms.
2. Post all the relevant information about the council meeting resolution action plan, and IIC activities and follow/tag the MIC/IIC page and posts on these platforms.

Start-up Activity Coordinator

1. Identifying and guiding potential/early-stage entrepreneurs, and student innovators at the Institute regularly. Encourage faculty members and students to pursue research studies related to Entrepreneurship.
2. Promotes a culture of entrepreneurship by organizing events, workshops, and awareness programs that encourage students and faculty to consider startups as viable career paths.
3. Organizationof startup pitch events, hackathons, and innovation challenges where students can showcase their entrepreneurial ideas and receive feedback from experts.

IPR Activity Coordinator

1. Organisingevents on IPR-related activities as per the IIC calendar and plan awareness programsregularly.
2. Commercialization of innovations through technology transfer, technology licensing Startups, etc.

NIRF Coordinator

1. Systematically collects and manages data related to innovation, research outputs, patents, startups, and other entrepreneurial activities within the institution.
2. Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation required for NIRF submissions. This includes verifying data accuracy and ensuring compliance with NIRF guidelines.
3. Develop strategies to boost innovation metrics, such as increasing research publications, patent filings, and successful startup ventures.

Innovation Activity Coordinator

1. Responsible for organizing, promoting, and managing activities that foster innovation within the institution.
2. Support students and faculty in transforming ideas into viable projects. This includes helping them identify innovative opportunities, providing guidance on project development, and facilitating access to resources like labs, mentors, and funding.

Internship Activity Coordinator

1. Facilitate and manage internship opportunities that align with the institution’s innovation and entrepreneurship objectives.
2. Identify and facilitate internship opportunities in innovative companies, startups, research labs, and industries.

Member

1. Regularly attend IIC meetings and actively contribute to discussions on planning and executing innovation and entrepreneurship activities within the institution.
2. Support to organize, coordinate, and support activities such as hackathons, ideation workshops, seminars, startup events, and innovation challenges. Their role is to ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives.

The IIC Calendar Activities are distributed in four quarters. Every quarter comprises IIC Calendar activity, MIC Driven Activity, and Self Driven activity. IIC Calendar activity and Self-driven activities are planned and conducted by the IIC members for the benefit of its students and faculty members. The Incubation Cell of Prem Chand Markanda SD College for Women in Jalandhar was founded in 2023.

Vision

To make students industry-ready and instill in them the skills of being a good entrepreneur and employable in the future by bringing out innovative ideas through competitions and brainstorming. Providing a platform for them to explore innovative and creative thoughts, ideas, or concepts from students, research scholars, and faculty members from various domains of society as well as industry.

Mission

• To develop and provide a platform for the creative aspirants, where their innovative ideas and concepts will be incubated and realized.
• To incubate, culture, and refine the ideas or concepts with a support from technical as well as creative experts of the concerned fields.
• Creating awareness among students and other sections of society regarding various aspects of entrepreneurship like new business prospects, government schemes for entrepreneurs, essentials for framing business plan and developing start-up etc.
• Nurturing the idea and giving it a shape of a sustainable venture i.e. assisting from the stage of project identification to project implementation.
• Providing mentoring in all areas like operations, technical, finance, marketing, economics etc.
• Acting as a support system by helping in providing all sorts of assistance like infrastructure (space), legal advice, technical expertise, market linkage, networking etc.
