Introduction

We are living in the epoch of artistic creations and aesthetic activities, where everything is expected to be presented in the grab of adornment. The Fine Arts programme here is focused on individual progress and achievement with the freedom to explore and workshop practice across a broad range of skills and techniques. The students are encouraged to identify their own personal vision and style. PCM S.D college for Women is one of the best colleges of Punjab, which has the privilege of introducing Fine Arts as one of the optional subject for the benefit of student community. The department of Fine Arts was started in the year 1974. The teachers are actively engaged in providing exposure to learning towards contemporary Art topics. Teachers encourage the students to develop their interests and styles, and participate in exhibitions.

Aim & Vision

Our aim is to promote, encourage and propagate art in students and to educate and train the students in fine arts.
To organise National and International Exhibitions, lectures and seminars, workshops.
Department of Fine Arts aim to educate and create its various units with the disciplines across the college .

Mission

The Department of Fine Arts PCM S.D College forWomen educates students and the public in the visual and performing arts and serves as a cultural centre for the campus and the surrounding regions through creative activity, research work, Canvas Making and public engagement.

Highlights

The Department of Fine Arts mainly focuses on the individual progress of the students in the field of fine arts . The department encourages the students to identify their own personal vision and style. In order to develop among them the sense of aesthetics, art workshops, exhibition and seminars are frequently organized in the college campus. Various issues or problems are exhibited with the help of a variety of painting which give a natural expression of the mood according to it.The department organizes the workshops, seminars ,exhibitions time to time . Teachers of the department take keen interest in motivating the students and inspire them to actively participate in academies as well as culture activities. The department invites which give insight and deeper knowledge to the students. They teach experimental approach of learning which motivates the students to develop new ideas and techniques in their work . The department organizes various seminars which gives the students in depth theoretical knowledge. In addition to it the students are involved in various social activities like blood donation, Drugs, women empowerment tree planting, and some students are part of NSS, NCC.
