Event Date:

10 February , 2025

The P.G. Department of Commerce & Management of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, in
collaboration with the Committee for Competitive Examination, organized a live telecast of the Union
Budget 2025 in the Smart Room. This initiative provided B.Com and M.Com students with a valuable
opportunity to understand the nation’s financial planning, policy decisions, and economic strategies.

The Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament at 11:00
AM, was streamed live via the Aaj Tak News YouTube Channel. The budget addressed crucial areas
such as revised income tax slabs, infrastructure development, and increased funding for rural
development and education. One of the most significant highlights was the newly structured tax
regime, offering full tax exemption to individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually and introducing a
progressive tax rate of up to 20% for higher income brackets.

Additionally, the government launched several economic initiatives to foster growth and support
entrepreneurship. The Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana aims to provide targeted
assistance to agricultural communities, while the Kisan Credit Card loan limit has been raised to ₹5
lakh, ensuring greater financial flexibility for farmers. Special credit facilities for microenterprises,
women entrepreneurs, and marginalized communities were also introduced, reflecting a holistic
approach to economic empowerment.

By attending this live telecast, students gained practical insights into the Union Budget’s impact on
the country's economy. The session enhanced their financial acumen and understanding of
government policies. The event witnessed the participation of around 48 students and all faculty
members of the P.G. Department of Commerce & Management.

President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other honorable members of the
Managing Committee, and the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar, lauded the initiative,
emphasizing that such events bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world economic
scenarios. The Principal also encouraged students to actively engage in discussions on financial
policies to strengthen their understanding of economic governance.
