Outreach Activities

At PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, education is envisioned as a transformative process that extends beyond academic instruction to meaningful social engagement. The institution upholds the belief that education attains its true purpose when knowledge is applied in service of society, fostering empathy, integrity, and responsible citizenship.

The College actively integrates extension activities into its educational framework to cultivate socially aware and ethically responsible individuals. Through structured outreach programmes and community partnerships, students are provided opportunities to engage directly with societal realities, encouraging both learning and service.

As part of its commitment to national development, the College has adopted five villages under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, contributing to rural advancement through awareness drives, developmental initiatives, and community interaction. National and civic observances such as International Yoga Day, National Integration Day, the Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign, Pulse Polio Drive, and Voting Awareness initiatives reinforce democratic values and instill a strong sense of national responsibility. Participation in programmes like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat further deepens students’ understanding of India’s cultural diversity and unity.

Experiential and skill-based learning is promoted through vocational and creative workshops, including Nail Extension Training, Best Out of Waste activities, and entrepreneurship-oriented programmes. These initiatives bridge academic knowledge with practical application, enhancing innovation and self-reliance. Environmental consciousness is fostered through sustained efforts such as cleanliness campaigns, tree plantation drives, Swachhta Abhiyan, and water conservation awareness programmes, encouraging sustainable practices.

Health and social well-being remain central to the College’s outreach efforts. Medical camps, including eye check-ups, bone density testing, and mammography screening, along with drug abuse awareness programmes, women’s self-defence training, and traffic safety awareness initiatives, equip students with essential life skills and social awareness. Activities addressing responsible social media use, social-theme mime performances, and Labour Day observances further strengthen critical thinking and social sensitivity.

The extension initiatives are reinforced through the active participation of NCC, NSS, the Red Cross Society, and the Drug Abuse Buddy Programme. These platforms provide structured avenues for leadership development, discipline, teamwork, and community service.

Through sustained commitment to outreach and engagement, PCM S.D. College for Women continues to nurture empowered, compassionate, and socially responsible citizens, thereby contributing meaningfully to the progress of society and the nation.
