The Women Empowerment Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized an insightful
Guest Lecture on Cervical Cancer.
The session was conducted by Dr. Himanshu Walia (MBBS, MD), Pathology, Pathkind Labs, Joshi
Hospital, Kapurthala Chowk), a renowned expert in the field of Pathology.
Dr. Walia enlightened the audience about the causes, symptoms, preventive measures, and available
treatments for Cervical Cancer, a major health concern for women worldwide. He emphasized the
significance of early detection through regular screenings which can significantly reduce the risk of
developing the disease.
The lecture also addressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle, awareness about risk factors, and
breaking societal taboos associated with women’s health. He encouraged students and faculty to take
proactive steps towards their well-being and to spread awareness within their communities. The
session was highly interactive, with students and faculty participating enthusiastically.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing
committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar felicitated the initiative by the Women
Empowerment Cell and its Incharge Mrs Kawaljit Kaur and believing that holding such activities
reinforce the college’s commitment to empowering women through education and healthcare
awareness. Mrs Shikha Puri, Dr Sandeep Kaur, Dr Anju and Ms Dolly also witnessed the event.
